Objectives
Tayo Solar Solutions has developed solar PV training course for installers.
The training course is designed to assist PV installers in delivering sustainable PV projects in Somalia and perform proper installation and conduct monitoring of the installed PV systems.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

  1. Knowledge
student will be able to:
explain the fundamental solar energy and its application
provide an overview of different renewable energy resources
Install, commission and troubleshoot PV systems upto micro grid size
Understand the risk and hazards of PV systems and perform safety procedures and precautions
Convince a customer on an informed knowledge the advantages of PV systems

 2. Skills
student will be able to:
use basic electricity terminology and expressions
assess the physical and economical aspects of PV systems
demonstrate the ability to provide constructive reviews to fellow students

 3. General competence
The student will be able to:
demonstrate the ability for critical thinking and physically based reasoning
summarize the link between environmental, socio-economic, demographic and social relationships through investigation into the use of PV systems in reducing greenhouse gas emissions
use renewable energy of solar to mitigate climate change

Required Previous Knowledge:
STUDENT Have attained primary school

Teaching and learning methods
The teaching will include online lectures (Massive Open Online course; MOOC), classroom lectures, group exercises and practical training on solar installation
1 – MOOC course: 48 hours
2 – Lectures: 4 hours a week for 12 weeks
3 – Colloquia: 2 hours a week for 12 weeks for exercises
4 – Practical Sessions: 2 hours a week for 12 weeks
Those who will not be able to meet physically for the practical part will get access to the workshop through videos and zoom

Compulsory Assignments and Attendance
1 – Mandatory peer-review of fellow students. Mandatory attendance in lectures and colloquia (at least 80% attendance).
2 – Completion of at least 80 % of the course steps and all the test questions in the MOOC course “Climate Change: Energy and Agriculture Management in respect to Sustainable Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies in Somalia”
3 – The compulsory assignments and end of course exam.

Forms of Assessment
The assessment form is evaluated based on:
1 – End-of-Course Exam consisting of 55 questions (80%)
2 – Assessments on practices

Examination Support Materials
 Will be made available at the end of the course

Certification Body
Accord University in partnership with United Nations Associations of Somalia will present diploma to the qualified students
